Identities: Tales of the United Kingdom
Why not explore your own stories during StoryLab?
Do you have a story of mixed identity, or of travel and connection with another part of the UK, or further afield? How do our personal, family or local experiences contribute to the mixture of nations and cultures in these islands?
- Express yourself in a creative way
- Get your school involved
- Tell your story.
Everyone has a story to tell, and perhaps several stories.
It is about you and the people who have shaped you.
Somewhere in the library of unwritten books there is one with your name on it. What is in that book?
People you know well and people you hardly know at all?

UK 300
300 years ago one united kingdom began in Britain.
Scotland and England agreed to have one parliament and to continue having one king or queen. Wales was already governed through the parliament in London and, in 1801, Ireland also joined the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Later, in the nineteen twenties, a large part of Ireland left the United Kingdom and became the Republic of Ireland, or Eire.
The StoryLab Identities: Tales of the UK theme is part of the Scotland Office official commemorations of the Treaty of the Union.
